Positive Youth Fest 2006

Last winter break I wandered around American University in Washington D.C. for almost an hour trying to find the annual Positive Youth Fest. That may have been because of my terrible sense of direction but regardless, this year I’m determined to go.

The Positive Youth Fest is a two day music festival, occuring from December 29 - 30, showcasing some of D.C.’s local talent like Mass Movement of the Moth and The Max Levine Ensemble. The fest also stages a couple of D.I.Y workshops ranging from bike repair to punk rock sex education (whatever that means), and a mixtape swap. The admission is $3 a day which includes vegan refreshments and a line up of nine bands per day. The proceeds support The Brian Mackenzie Infoshop which is also another place I spent a long time trying to find.

If you are in the D.C. area around the time of the fest you should definitely check out what it has to offer. Plus, the venue for it this year, The Warehouse Next Door, is so easy to find that even I won’t get lost.
