Show Round Up: July 19th:

Things have been kinda slow with all of us here at LNWF. Probably because we are wasting away in an AC-fueled haven, eating tubs of Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream, curled up in a ball, and cursing the sun. Well, while we hide like a bunch of dweeby vampires, there’s still plenty of stuff to do this week for all of you “others.”
First off, our friend Ronen Kauffman is doing a reading and signing for his book New Brunswick, NJ, Goodbye at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ tonight. Special guests are planned so get all the info here. Be on the look out for an interview I did with Ronen in the next few days.
On Friday, root-channelling revivalists Lewis and Clarke will celebrate the release of their new album Blasts of Holy Birth (La Société Expéditionnaire) at Brooklyn’s Soundfix. The band, made up also of members of Man Man and Rachels, will captivate all those Williamsburg hipsters like nobodies business. Go check them out!
So…ever heard of Fucked Up? Apparently we REALLY like them. I guess you should probably check them out as well, eh? Friday, they are playing with the amazing Limp Wrist and dumpster divers Criminal Damage (featuring members of Tragedy) at the Knitting Factory. Saturday’s show at Southpaw in Brooklyn will include Allentown, Pa’s finest sceamers Pissed Jeans.
Of course, Saturday marks the seventh annual Siren Fest at Coney Island. Performers this year include Cursive, Matt and Kim, Twilight Sad, M.I.A, Voxtrot, the New York Dolls, Dr. Dog, The Black Lips, and more. Get there early, wear lots of sunblock and enjoy some free music.
If you are in Philly, the Punk Rock Flea Market is going down at the Starland Ballroom. Why do I always seem to have stuff going on when this is happening? Well, if you are down in Philly, you have no excuse. Check out R5 Production’s website for more info.
Don’t feel like venturing into the city? All Jerseyite,Ted Leo-lovin’ folks rejoice! The man is playing a free, benefit show in Clifton, NJ. It’s going down at the Clash Bar and it’s 21+. Sorry kiddies.
So literally, there are about 40 million things going on this weekend. Maybe we’ll put on some pants and go outside. MAYBE.
