Band Spotlight: Daly’s Gone Wrong

“How beautiful is that?”

Imagine hearing 200 kids in an overcrowded church basement screaming that back at you in harmony. Some little kid who can’t be older than 13 is stage diving and being carried and among all the faces looking up at you, every single one is sweaty and smiling. Now you sort of have an idea of what it feels like to be the Bronx’s Daly’s Gone Wrong. It’s a sight that I’ve managed to see a bunch of times and let me tell you, it never gets old.

I’ve seen them many times, most recently at their record release show for, Never A Hand To Hold. They’ve been a staple of the Bronx and upstate NY punk and hardcore scene, and I’ve seen kids stand outside a church basement for hours just to get in to seem them play.Their mix of punk, reggae, and hardcore metal is just plain ol’ fun that it gets even a jaded asshole like me bopping along and singing back. It’s a formula you’d think you’ve heard a dozen times already, but the earnestness that these guys put into it is just something else.I’ve become a DGW convert over the course of seeing them perform live, and their latest batch of songs just blows me away.

Their latest album is out now and available either through them at shows, or from Interpunk.com.It’s their best work so far, so don’t be a chump. Check that shit out, yo, catch them next time they come to your town.
If you’re in the mood, check out the video for “Die Die Die…And Then Some” off their previous release, Exit Where You Belong.
