Oi! Spin Celebrates Punk’s 30th Birthday

In celebration of punk’s 30th birthday (way to hang in there old timer!), Spin Magazine has thrown together a pretty massive tribute in their October issue. The main feature is an article with the always-pleasant Johnny Rotten. As usual, the man provides many-a-memorable quote including comparing the the Clash to Status Quo, calling the early CBGB’s atmosphere a “a world of foolishness,” and his distaste for the Ramones, amongs other critiques.

Perhaps the most interesting feature is the UK, East Coast and West Coast Punk reunion sections. Bands featured include the Avengers, X, The Slits, The Damned, Suicide, among many others. Be sure to check out the new Spin …and uh…up the punks?
