Album Review: Static Radio “One For The Good Guys” (Black Numbers)

*Adjusts mask and Robin tights* Holy Kid Dynamite, Batman! Ok, now that I got that out of the way, Static Radio’s 7-song album, One For The Good Guys, out now on Black Numbers Records, is a pretty insane punch to the face. Sorry for the Kid Dynamite joke, but it’s an apt comparison as these dudes mix melodic punk rock, throat-tearing vocals, and hardcore ferocity into a sound that, while not exactly original, is still full of heart and guts and gets you pumped.

It’s good to see bands like this becoming more prevalent, bringing back a refreshing honesty and sound back to independant music, unconcerned with trying to be “hardcore” or “unique” and in the end just sound like everyone else. It just sounds like what it is, a couple of friends having fun. It’s like the Paint It Black song title goes, “Less Deicide, More Minor Threat.”
