Black Lips Plan Massive ‘08 Tour

Atlanta’s premiere R’N'R throwbacks The Black Lips have announced a massive tour for the first few months of the new year. You’ve probably heard all about their live shows; the mid-set make out sessions, piss flying in the air towards the masses, etc.etc. The band keeps it dangerous and they have definitely crafted one of ’07’s best records with Good Bad Not Evil (Vice). Check the dates after the jump.

LNWF Geek Out Moment: New Picture Of The Joker Surfaces!

I know we don’t normally cover the world of cinema but who else wigged out when they saw this? I’m not going to lie, I geeked out pretty hard. Who else thought they really were Batman when they were five? No? You didn’t think your basement was the Batcave, where you would put the suit on every morning before you ate your cereal?

…..I’ll stop now.

The Dark Knight is due out this summer. Can’t wait!

Cursed’s Third Full-Length To Be Released In February

Ontario’s Cursed have closed up shop on their third album. Not surprisingly, the band will continue it’s crusade against complex album titles by naming the record III, as they did with their last two long-players, 2003’s (Deathwish) and 2005’s II (Goodfellow).  It will be released around mid-February via Goodfellow Records.

You can check out their new jam “Magic Fingers” here. Tracklisting after the jump.

“The News” Brought To You By Carbon/Silicon

I’m pretty stoked on Mick Jones and Tony James’ new band Carbon/Silicon. While I was listening to their debut full-length The Last Post at work the other day, some crazy Grand Funk Railroad-loving dude muttered that it “sounded like crappy Big Audio Dynamite.” You be the judge and check out their new video for “The News.”

Philly Loses Music Festival, Vineland, NJ Is The Winner

While I was home in Philadelphia for Thanksgiving, my brother-in-law informed me that the city was close to landing a “Austin City Limits-esque” music festival that would take place in Fairmount Park sometime next summer. The festival will indeed be taking place, just not in the “City of Brotherly Love,” since it was announced yesterday that the spot for the event would be Vineland, NJ instead.

According to Philly.com, the three-day festival will be held on August 8 to the 10th and is being put together by C3 Presents, the company that handles the booking for Lollapalooza and the aforementioned Austin City Limits. The company will partner up with the British concert promotion titan Festival Republic, the group behind the famous Glastonbury and Reading Festival. C3 partner Charlie Jones is comparing the event to Manchester, TN’s annual Bonnaroo and called it a “camping festival” that will most likely draw more than 150,000 people.

While the city has not ruled out a “scaled down” concert in Fairmount Park, this is a huge blow seeing how both ACL and Lollapalooza grossed a reported “$9.8 and $11.3 million respectively” in revenue last year.

While Vineland celebrates landing the biggest East Coast music festival, I’m predicting the lineup for this “scaled down” festival. Hall & Oats anyone?
