The Pogues Hit The U.S.

Venerable drunkards The Pogues will be back again for their annual St. Patty’s Day East Coast American tour. Everyone’s favorite lush Shane McGowan will hopefully remain uninjured this year (last year he fell down and broke a leg) and be able to complete each night’s set, despite being completely wasted all the time. The dates and pre-sale ticket info can be found after the jump.

No Age Tears Down Other Music

Luckily for us, one of our favorite NYC record stores Other Music (second only to Generation, of course), has been filming their increasingly frequent in-store performances. With groups like Vampire Weekend, White Williams, and Celebration gracing the aisles of the downtown indie rock landmark, fans can come to browse the CD racks, while hearing some of today’s best bands rock out. L.A. noise makers No Age packed the place during October’s CMJ Marathon and the footage has finally surfaced of their raucous performance. Check out the crazy video right here and browse around their site for more live, awesome videos.

Bullet Train To Vegas Release Afghan Whigs Cover

Bullet Train To Vegas

Post-dance-punk rockers Bullet Train to Vegas have posted a cover of the Afghan Whigs “My Enemy.” The song was recorded during sessions for their second album which appears as if it may never see release since the band is apparently on an “indefinite hiatus.” Presumably recorded as a b-side, the band describes the song as “Totally raw and fucking sloppy as shit.” Enjoy!

You can download the track from their MySpace page or stream it below.

Bridge And Tunnel | Lost And Found Bar, Brooklyn, NY | 12/12/07

By the beard of Zeus, I freaking love Bridge and Tunnel! So much so that I ventured out into the cold, face-freezing weather to Greenpoint’s Lost and Found Bar to catch them. What amazes me about the band is that even though they have only been around for a short period of time, they already pack more intensity in a three minute song than most current bands do with an entire full-length. And hey, any band that can nail a cover of Rumbleseat’s “Cursing Concrete” deserves a ten in my book.

Do yourself a favor and pick up their self-titled debut 7-inch from No Idea Records. The band, which is made up of former members of Slingshot Dakota and Latterman, are currently hashing out their debut full-length. They are aiming to have the record out early on in 2008, so be on the lookout for that. And of course, we have a Bridge and Tunnel song in our Late Nix Mix player on the right, so check it out.
