Patti Smith/Kevin Shields Releasing “Coral Sea” Live Recording

Patti Smith and My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields’ performance of The Coral Sea will finally see a proper release. The double-disc documents a spoken word performance of Smith’s book of the same title with Shields providing guitar as the background. The recording is from two gigs that happened on June 22nd, 2005 and September 12th, 2006 at the QEH in London.

The work was a tribute to Smith’s late friend, photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. The Coral Sea will be released on July 11 via their duo’s PASK imprint.
