Photos: Modest Mouse | Music Hall Of Williamsburg | 6/19/08

These days, it’s rare to see Modest Mouse in a venue the size of The Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. That being said, It’s not very shocking that they were able to sell out the club in a few minutes when they announced a very last minute (and very late) “secret show” yesterday.

Earlier in the night, the band opened for R.E.M at Madison Square Garden, so a projected 1:30 A.M. start time was generous at best. Not surprisingly, the band went on about an hour later. The wait was worth it though because this was the best I’ve ever seen them play.

Favorites like “Paper Thin Walls,” “Dance Hall,” “Wild Pack Of Family Dogs,” and “Dramamine” were standouts amongst a mostly obsecure list of songs. No “Float On” or “Ocean Breaths Salty.” Hell, I was shocked they played “Dashboard” honestly. The way they were hammering away, it seemed like the MSG show was a warm up.

I’m fucking exhausted now since the show ended at 4 A.M. and I got home when the sun was coming up, but hell, like I said before, it was well worth it.

More photos after the jump.
