Wolf Parade | The Electric Factory, Philly | 7/30/08

It’s always amusing when really, really good bands pause in between every song to thank the crowd for being there.  Yeah, Wolf Parade - you better thank us for listening to you flawlessly execute song after song of catchy indie rock!  Who do you think you are?  And the part where you jammed the most epic jam ever for fifteen minutes and held the crowd’s interest the whole time?  We deserve an extra thank you for that one.  Rest after the jump!

Despite playing a venue known affectionately around Philly as the “Slayer of Usually Decent Live Acts,” Wolf Parade put on a show that made the cavernous space feel like a jam sesh with a few good friends.  Spencer Krug created utter chaos in everyone’s visual cortex at the howls emitting from his adorable little boy face.  The man looked like a mad scientist at work over his keyboard.   Dan Boeckner’s vocals were so complimentary to Krugs that several times I was convinced Krug had achieved rock ventriloquism.   The whole band worked incredibly well together,  and it was a refreshing night of extremely capable musicianship.  The only downside was idiots in the crowd trying to mosh to songs like “Language City.”  Seriously, guys?

Man, I wish I had attended this show… but I couldn’t get up to Philly. Why don’t they come to DC? Anyway, how was Wintersleep? I’ve heard some of their stuff on CBC radio and they sound pretty good.

I saw WP in Philly last year at the TLA and they rocked it. Kids were moshing there too… one guy even opened an umbrella as he was crowd surfing. I never thought WP were moshable, but oh well.

And whats so bad about the Electric Factory? I saw Pete Yorn there ages ago and it seemed capable enough a venue.
