The National Music Publishers’ Association Take On iTunes

The National Music Publishers’ Association is taking on iTunes in a battle to increase royalty rates for artists. The publishers association want the rates hiked up 66%, from 9 cents to 15 cents a track. Eddy Cue, iTunes vice president, has said Apple may close the store if they have to raise song prices. Cue said, “Apple has repeatedly made it clear that it is in this business to make money, and most likely would not continue to operate [the iTunes music store] if it were no longer possible to do so profitably.” You can read more about this story here.
