Detroit-based soul singer Nathaniel Mayer has passed away at the age of 64. Mayer had been enduring a series of strokes days before his passing. He was a huge inspiration for artists like The Dirtbombs, The Black Keys, The Detroit Cobras (who covered his song “Village of Love”) and Holly Golightly. His last album, Why Don’t You Give It To Me?, which was released in 2007 through Alive-Naturalsound Records. Our thoughts go out to his family.
