Line to get into David Byrne’s free show at Prospect Park – 6/8/09
Last night, I went to Prospect Park to check out the free David Byrne show. Here are a few things that stood out to me during last night’s festivities.
First thing, the insane line to get in. The snake-like line may have looked chaotic but everything seemed to go very smoothly, which is very surprising to me. Even more so because there was practically no security present to monitor the line. I’m sure there was a massive amount of people cutting the line but I felt like everyone that wanted to get in did.
Secondly, I had never see Byrne live up until last night but if this is how all of his shows are, count me in every time. The background dancers, however, stole the show. .
And last but not least, at the ripe of age of 57, David Byrne can still move like a madman. He hasn’t missed a beat over all these years. Also, Byrne threw some Talking Heads classics like “Burning Down The House,” “Take Me To The River,” “Heaven” and “Once In A Lifetime” into the mix. The crowd obviously went nuts for these songs.
Check out some great photos from the show over at Brooklyvegan.
