Show Review: Reigning Sound – Live At Southpaw, Brooklyn, NY – 6/19/2010

About a month ago, the almighty Reigning Sound blasted the roof off Southpaw with a sweltering two hour set. Greg Cartwright and crew were truly incendiary and awe-inspiring that night. One of the best performances I’ve seen from the guys.

The guys just seem to give it 120% when playing at Southpaw. It’s a home away from home it appears. One possible amazing moment didn’t happen however. Mary Weiss, leader of legendary girl group The Shangri-Las, was right in front of the band during their set. The band made repeated efforts to get her on stage to sing with them (Reigning Sound were the backing band for Weiss’ 2007 album Dangerous Game). Sadly, she declined.

Regardless, it was an amazing show and I left feeling inspired, wishing I could be in a band as amazing as RS.

New life goal – follow the Reigning Sound around the country. Well, that and become starting left fielder for the Phillies. Hey, one can dream, right?
