Song Of The Day: Maritime – “It’s Casual”
When I was checking out the recent They Might Be Giants Onion A.V. Club session (they did an awesome cover of Chumbawumba’s “Tubthumping”), I was immediately drawn into the theme song of the segment. That theme song was “It’s Casual” by Maritime. I have never been a fan of The Promise Ring or The Dismemberment Plan (the band was formed after both those bands broke up) so I never really thought to check out Maritime. That has changed.
“It’s Casual” is off the band’s forth album Human Hearts, which came out in April via Dangerbird. The track has a shoegazey, No Knife, Weakerthans or Colossal indie pop feel.
Check it out below and if you like what you hear, get it at your local record store or on iTunes.
