65daysofstatic | Maxwells - Hoboken, NJ | May 11, 2008

The last time I saw 65daysofstatic, they had been awake for something like four days straight, been chewed up and spit out through Customs and barely made it to the first show on their tour. Despite all those circumstances, they put on one of the most memorable sets that I saw from the past year. Now, they are back in the states supporting The Cure and doing their own separate headlining shows. Sadly, Sunday night’s show only had about thirty people in the crowd (some blamed it on Mothers Day). Once again, that didn’t stop the boys from Britain from putting on an amazing show. Whether is was fan favorites like “Reatreat! Retreat!” or “A Failsafe,” the group thrashed around stage while creating a pummeling wall of sonic noise. Electronic drum beats crashed in the background, while distorted guitar tones blasted through the speakers. It may have been a slow night at the best venue in Hoboken, but you wouldn’t have known it by the way 65daysofstatic owned the stage.

65daysofstatic Come Stateside

65daysofstatic, one of England’s best kept secrets, are finally getting some well deserved attention over in the states. The group plan to return to the U.S. to tour in support of their latest, The Destruction of Small Ideas, which will also be receiving a super-deluxe vinyl pressing sometime in November. In between opening up for The Cure (dates below), 65 (as the cool kids call them) will be reissuing their previous import only albums The Fall of Math and The Hole EP on February 18, 2008. Check out the track “When We Were Younger & Better” off Destruction to tide you over until the band hits your town this spring.

65daysofstatic | Europa, Brooklyn, NY | 07/20/07

Have you ever had one of those moments when a show became more than just a couple of people banging on their instruments for forty-five minutes? It may have been the fact that all of the fans of Fear Before the March of Flames had cleared out. It may have been the fact that here were four guys from England, who had been through customs and visa hell for the past week, and hadn’t slept more than two hours in days. Maybe it was the fact that it was their second show in the United States ever. Either way, 65daysofstatic barely made their way on to the stage (courtesy of Club Europa letting the show run late so they could play) and you could just see the exhaustion in these guys.

65daysofstatic To Tour U.S

Post-rock/IDM’ers 65daysofstatic have posted a batch of dates for their first full U.S. tour this summer. The band will be touring with an odd lineup of Fear Before The March of Flames, Hot Cross, and This Will Destroy You across the country. If they can pull off their songs live like they do on their albums, then this will truly be a show you do not want to miss. We profiled them a while back so make sure to check that out.
