Quick News: Against Me!, Metallica, Andrew W.K and more

Metallica have named their new record Death Magnetic. I feel like they have at least one more good album in them, could this be it? Read about their overpriced special edition packages at Mission Metallica.

Against Me! have posted another b-side from New Wave on their myspace page, for a song entitled “So Much More.”

The Hollow Sound have posted video updates of their time in the studio, check them out here.

Andrew W.K. joined Vampire Weekend in Central park this weekend for a cover of Tom Petty, check the video out here.

Aziz Ansari of Human Giant has been cast in the new NBC’s Office spin-off. This is already showing signs to be the best spin-off ever.

Against Me!, Bright Eyes, The Boss Sing About “War”

A jam-packed lineup of artists have joined forces for the anti-war soundtrack, Body of War: Songs That Inspired an Iraq War Veteran. The 2-disc set was handpicked by veteran Tomas Young as a source of strength while dealing with the effects of the war on his life, from the past to the present. The record comes out March 18th via Sire Records and all proceeds go to the Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW.org).

Check out the tracklisting after the jump.

Foo Fighters/Against Me! | Madison Square Garden | 02/19/08

It’s been awhile since I went to a “concert.” Drum solos. A catwalk. Lights, camera, smoke machines and Dave Grohl. Bust out the weed brah! Well, not really in my case, but I did get to watch Against Me! and Foo Fighters together at Madison Square Garden.

Against Me! opened up the show to a barely-filled venue, sadly. The boys slammed through a set that only included songs from New Wave and Searching For A Former Clarity.

Halfway through the set, I became fascinated with the activity on the floor. I noticed a few kids trying to get into AM! by pushing around and putting their fists in the air. Needless to say, the pop-collared apes surrounding them didn’t approve of anyone rocking out to anyone but Dave Grohl. The best part…security was flipping out! They were acting like one of the kids was waving a knife in the air. About five guards were pointing and flashing lights in the dudes general direction. The guys actually got kicked out of the pit area. All the assholes surrounding the kids applauded too. For a second there, I forgot I was at a concert. What a fucking sham. If you are reading this and happen to be those kids who got kicked out, please reach out to me. Otherwise, AM! was great and I hope some young kid out there in the venue was impressed and bought a record.
