American Steel To "Destroy Their Future" In Fall

Hot damn kids! Tons of American Steel news! First things first; the band will release their new album Destroy Their Future on October 3rd via Fat Wreck. The band had this to say about the new album on their myspace page.

“Ok ok, so a little of the first record, a little more like Rogue’s March, a smattering of Jagged Thoughts and then some of it’s own new jam. If that even makes any sense. I’m not so sure after reading all that. We got a big name producer and engineer (at least in our world), who also wrote all the songs and babysat us. Ourselves. We’ll be posting some shiza pretty soon so stay tuned.”

Along with the new album info, American Steel has announced participation in the “8th Annual Unbelievable Self-Indulgence Fest” tour, which will feature the Lawrence Arms and all their related projects (The Falcon, Sundowner). Of course, we all know that the tour is heading straight for the Fest VI.

American Steel To Reunite And Record

The mighty West Oakland-based punk band American Steel have reformed, intending to record a new album and play shows. The band, who added a keyboard player, switched up their style a bit and changed their name to Communique in 2003, returned under their old moniker for a show in their hometown over the weekend. Although there were a boat load of rumors about this, the show was unannounced and consisted mostly of stuff from their second full-length Rogue’s March, as well as new material.

Also, according to the band’s Wikipedia page, the new material will be released on Fat Wreck Chords

This is definitely exciting news to yours truly because I definitely think this band “broke up” way before their prime. Regardless, it’s good to have them back. Looking forward to screaming along to “Optimist.” Perhaps, maybe, at the Fest VI?
