Quick News: Against Me!, Metallica, Andrew W.K and more

Metallica have named their new record Death Magnetic. I feel like they have at least one more good album in them, could this be it? Read about their overpriced special edition packages at Mission Metallica.

Against Me! have posted another b-side from New Wave on their myspace page, for a song entitled “So Much More.”

The Hollow Sound have posted video updates of their time in the studio, check them out here.

Andrew W.K. joined Vampire Weekend in Central park this weekend for a cover of Tom Petty, check the video out here.

Aziz Ansari of Human Giant has been cast in the new NBC’s Office spin-off. This is already showing signs to be the best spin-off ever.

Party Hard! All Night Long!

After months of talk, Andrew W.K. has confirmed that he will be opening a nightclub in Manhattan in the not-too-distant future. Although the club has no set location or opening date , Mr. W.K. plans to cater to all sorts of patrons; from dirty unkempt rockers to “regular” (meaning, bridge and tunnel?) clubgoers.

The club will feature two floors of “state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems” with a main stage for the bands and the downstairs acting as the more laid back spot for post-show schmoozing.
“This is something I always wanted to do, have a space for all types of people to come and be creative, relax, and have their minds blown,” W.K. revealed to CMJ. No word on how the club will handle people that “party till they puke.”
When not working on conquering the NYC club scene, Andrew will be working on his two upcoming releases; Young Lord, due this year and The Carrier, due in 2008.
