A very kind, generous fellow by the name of Nicholas Taplin has spent the past 7 years recording, editing, and mastering live recordings of small and large bands that have some through the Santa Cruz scene. Taplin has posted the first batch of music up on his site and you can check out the fruits of his labor at his site, Post Consumer. According to Taplin, “Most of the shows I recorded took place in people’s living rooms so the vibe is very unique. Some of the artists I recorded have become well known.” Well known, indeed. On his site you can find 546 live songs by acts like The Shins, The Microphones, Six Organs of Admittance, Outhud, Frog Eyes and many more. Definitely bookmark this site!

Ahh summer, the perfect time for bbq’s, beaches and…an olympic sized pool filled with awesome bands, dodgeball games and a slip n’ slide?!

Yeah, the free Sunday Pool Parties at McCarren Pool return next weekend and just like last summer, this year’s events looks to have already booked up all your Sundays for the rest of the summer. Presented once again by the fine people over at JellyNYC, this year’s lineup is already filled with an eclectic and exciting roster of musical talents beginning next Sunday (June 24th!) with Superchunk and Oakley Hall and continuing on with highlights from Man Man, TV on the Radio, Ted Leo and others.
