It’s the holiday season and that means even your favorite indie artists want to help out when it comes to giving to those in need (and no, an Xbox 360 does not count). Spoon teamed up with everyone’s favorite beat maker, Diplo, and had him go to town on the track “Don’t You Evah,” off their latest Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. The track is available from the Merge Records store, right here, and all proceeds fund the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition. We hear at LNWF haven’t heard the track, but if Diplo is behind the board, expect some funky, funky stuff.

The charity does not end there however, as Spoon also signed one of their show posters put it up on eBay, all in the name of charity. Check out the Merge listing here for that and more auctions and get your credit cards out and ready.

After her life-changing recommendations in Garden State, acting goddess Natalie Portman is at it again. She recently curated a iTunes exclusive compilation for charity, featuring all the best of today’s indie rock. Portman recruited her current “new favorite band” Beirut to record an exclusive track for the album. Word on the street is that Zach Condon and company even asked her to sing on it, but scheduling conflicts prevented this (the jury is still out on whether this is a good thing or not). Pastepunk.com is reporting that Ronen Kauffman, frontman of hardcore thrashers Zombie Apocalypse, will be participating in a 50-mile bike ride in order to raise money for M.S. (multiple sclerosis). Kauffman’s wife is affected by the awful condition and this is the third year he is participating in the ride to raise money for research. Information about the ride can be found in a statement that the man himself sent to Pastepunk:

“Once I again I will be riding my bicycle many miles to raise money and awareness for the fight against MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. MS is an auto-immune disease that sucks big time, affecting millions of people across the country and the world. The good news is that research is making strides toward a cure - just not fast enough.
