Chuck Ragan Gives Us A Taste Of “Bristle Ridge”

More Chuck Ragan news?! You betcha. Chuck has posted two new songs on his myspace, which will be on his upcoming album Bristle Ridge. Chuck also unveiled some other details about the album’s release, including label name and guest appearances.

“We were lucky enough to have some great guest appearances from Chloe Manor, Tom Greathead, and Laura Gayle Lucas. It was a joy to record to say the least. The record will be out soon on our little mom and pop shop label that we’ll be calling {ten four records} as release #1″

You can check out the songs on Chuck’s Myspace here. He will be doing solo shows on the off-nights of the upcoming Hot Water Music reunion tour. For all your NJ/NY people, be sure you get your ass down to Maxwell’s in Hoboken on January 24th for his show with Ben Nichols from Lucero. And of course, down to Sayreville on the 25th for HWM.

Chuck Ragan, Sundowner | Knitting Factory, NYC | 12/1/07

Even though the weather in NYC was brutally cold on Saturday night, you would never know inside the Knitting Factory, where Chuck Ragan and Sundowner (aka Chris McCaughan of the Lawrence Arms) warmed up the crowd with some gutsy, Pabst Blue Ribbon-soaked-folk-rock.  Going into the night, I thought back to when I saw both guys with their much-celebrated “other” bands, Hot Water Music and the Lawrence Arms, at the club a few years ago. Now, both of the co-lead singers were back at the venue, other bandmates left behind, playing striped-down jams that are somewhat different than said bands but still ultimately fimiliar to their fans.

Follow after the jump for more pictures and thoughts. Also, expect a very drunken interview that I did with Chris  of Sundowner/Lawrence Arms that night to pop up on the site soon. Not one of my most professional moments, but it’s still entertaining none the less.

Alternative Press Reveals Hot Water Music Reunion Plans

Confirming all the rumors, the new Alternative Press features and exclusive article with Hot Water Music bassist Jason Black on the reunion and touring plans for the band. Jason had this to say in the article when ask to confirm whether or not the band was getting back together.

“[Long pause] Probably. [Laughs] I mean, yeah, that seems to be the plan. I hate actually saying it out loud because we haven’t confirmed a show yet. We’re trying to get dates worked out right now. We’re all into it; as long as we can get the shows set up, we’ll be good to go.”

The article goes on to talk about those exact plans and whether or not the band will pull a Lawerence Arms and do a Hot Water Music/The Draft/Chuck Ragan tour. Regardless, check out the new issue out November 1st and freaking rejoice.
