Coachella | Day One | 04/27/07

12:00pm: Alfie: I get ready to eat breakfast at the Residence Inn Palm Desert, where I’ll be staying at for the duration of my Coachella trip.

2:oopm: Alfie: After a 30 minute cab ride (and the outrageous fee of $60), I begin heading through the parking lot of the Empire Polo Field, where I can already here the Jesus and Mary Chain soundcheck “Reverence” and “Just Like Honey.” Naturally, I’m beyond psyched at this point to be seeing one of my favorite bands of all time in a few hours.

Jesus and Mary Chain Tour and News Update

According to Brooklyn Vegan, tickets for the recently reunited Jesus and Mary Chain two night stand at Webster Hall go on sale today!
I’ll be sure to be there for at least one of those days on top of seeing them at Coachella (a report to follow once I get back).

While we’re on the subject of the Reids, here’s a recap of what’s been going on with them recently:

Evil Heat

Goddamn, this summer’s been way too hot for comfort.

So yesterday was Jelly NYC’s 2nd McCarren Pool Party and it turned out great. One of my all time favorite live bands, Dead Meadow, played and totally killed it. I’ll update this blog later with further thoughts and pictures. In the meantime, make sure you check out our website

www.thepoolparties.com

and show up for some more great shows. Next week we’ve got Pretty Girls Make Graves headlining and more to be announced.

In the meantime, do yourself a favor and check out the Jesus and Mary Chain talking about how fucking cool they are. Keep in mind, this is way before the Gallagher brothers were talking shit and that douchebag from the Killers was saying he’s made the greatest album in the past 20 years (lay off the coke, buddy).

…Did I mention that I fucking love this band?
