Hot damn! If it the mighty Hot Water Music wasn’t enough of a show for you, they have added Lucero as their opening act to the Chicago dates at the Metro. Chuck Ragan and Ben Nichols are playing together at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, on January 24th, the day before the Sayreville, NJ reunion show, so here’s to hoping the rest of the boys from Memphis will be on the East Coast to join HWM on stage.Speaking of which, anyone want to join the LNWF crew on a party bus to the Sayreville show?
Alkaline Trio have posted a re-mastered version of “Cringe” on their MySpace page which we be on the Goddamnit Redux: Tenth Anniversary Edition, due out in March from Asian Man Records.
Bridge Nine Records have posted a digital sampler with tracks, videos and a cool flipbook. The sampler features music from Crime In Stereo, Ruiner, Ceremony, Ambitions and more.
Glassjaw have also posted a new track titled “Yum Yum,” which is a static drenched drum loop that hurt your ears if you are wearing headphones. At the end you get to hear a cymbal! Don’t waste your time.
Our favorite moonshine-drinkin’-folk-maniacs O’Death have announced two year-end shows at the Mercury Lounge. The shows will be on 12/21-22 at you can get all the info here. Seriously, if you haven’t seen these guys live yet, what are you freakin’ waiting for?
On Saturday, Memphis’ proudest export Lucero played a triumphant set at Brooklyn’s The Hook. Lucero are one of the most honest, guts-on-your-sleeve, hard working bands out there on the road so whenever I see a packed room of drunken die hards, screaming along to every word, that indescribable, life-affirming feeling hits.
Unlike their previous NYC show in the fall, the band had keyboardist Rick Steff in tow. The full lineup brought their latest effort Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers (Liberty & Lament) to life. Bringing in Steff was probably one of the best moves the guys have made. The band’s back catalog has always been consistent but with the keyboards, the sound is fuller.
