Morrissey Hits NYC

Morrissey’s residency in NYC has officially passed and the opinions on what night was the best will obviously be mixed. I attended the second night with the usual expectations that comes with witnessesing the Moz’s live show. If anything, the only real surprises from the night consisted of the interesting mix of solo songs and the rare apperance of the Smith’s “Death of a Disco Dancer.”

There are few that command the stage like Moz. It’s an experience most should witness. It’s majestic; that’s the only way to categorize it. After all the frustration of his cancelled Summer gig at MSG, it was an overall well-paced show. Nothing too crazy, nothing by any means boring, everything went down smooth. It could have been a better Moz show but hey, who’s complaining really? Set list after the jump.

Are The Smiths Finally Going To Reunite?

The Smiths will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2008, according to the Manchester Evening News. Naturally, with the news, the rumors of a possible reunion are widespread. Easily the most sought after band, they have rejected as much as five million dollars in the past to reunite.

With the guys in the same room together, will the induction ceremony be the first time they play since their split in 1987? Bassist Andy Rourke commented in the article, “It might just be Morrissey with three cardboard cut-outs. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”

In the meantime, Morrissey tickets for his upcoming tour go on sale April 30th. Johnny Marr continues his adventures with Modest Mouse, as they begin their headlining Spring tour.
