Never Suspend Disbelief, the full-length from New Jersey’s One Win Choice, is definitely not afraid to wear its influences on its sleeve. You’ll recognize a love for bands like Anti-Flag, Good Riddance, and Kid Dynamite in there, from the instant OWC’s no-holds-barred guitars and up-front take no prisoners vocals kick in. Songs like the album opener “Powder Keg” or “Alive” are perfect examples. It’s not the most original album I’ve heard, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. One Win Choice seem pretty comfortable in not trying to reinvent the wheel or do string theory, they just want to play and bring their melodic hardcore punk to the masses, with songs of discontent, anger, and a little heartbreak and disappointment at the world.
They do a pretty good job of it too, so check them out, on Jumpstart Records.
