Rage Against The Machine To Play Free Show During DNC

First it was a $60 concert during the Republican National Convention in Minnesota. Now apparently Rage Against The Machine will be playing a free show in Denver during the Democratic National Convention. The band has parterned up with the Iraq Veterans Against the War organization and Tent State University for the “Tent State Music Festival to End the War.” The concert will take place on Wednesday, August 27 at the Denver Coliseum. Tickets will be given away through a lottery based system. Check out to www.tentstate.org for more info. If you’re going, beware of this.

People Raged A Bit Too Much During Rage Against The Machine At Lollapalooza ‘08

The annual Lollapalooza Music Festival went down in Chicago this past weekend. While acts like Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and Kayne West were all headlining acts, Rage Against The Machine’s set has received the most press. No, not for another Zach De La Rocha rant this time around. Apparently, people were so out of control, filled with uh….rage, that the band almost had to cut their set short. Check out this interesting article from The Chicago Sun-Times, that takes a timeline approach to all the happenings.

One Day As A Lion (Zack De La Rocha) Posts Track

The new project from Rage Against The Machine’s ZacK De La Rocha and Jon Theodore, One Day As A Lion, have posted their first sampling of music, a track called “Wild International” on Myspace.  The fuzzed out bass that says constant in the song does not have quite the intensity of RATM, but an interesting track if you are a fan of Zack’s vocal stylings.

Anti Signs One Day As A Lion

When I got an e-mail about Anti-’s latest signing One Day As A Lion, I failed to click on it and read on. Soon after, I found out that the band is actually the new project from Rage Against The Machine frontman Zach De La Rocha. The band’s Myspace states the band is “both a warning delivered and a promise kept.” No music yet so I guess keep checking their page for info.

Coachella | Day Three | 04/29/07

2:30pm: Matt: For my first band on Sunday, I watched a little bit of Tapes n’ Tapes. I wonder if their new album will make them interweb darlings once again. For some reason, it seems like people have forgotten about these guys.

3:30pm: Alfie: The thing I love about watching Grizzly Bear live is their amazing echoed vocal harmonies. I always feel like I’m watching the modern equivalent of the Beach Boys (yeah, I know. It’s a huge statement to make but whatever) whenever these dudes roll in to town. Their performance at the Gobi tent was nothing short of mesmerizing and you can see how honed their songs have become from the road (despite a voice crack during “Knife”).
