Roky Erickson Returns To NYC

Ah summer. What could be better than 90 degree weather, baseball games and bbq-ing every food item you have in your pantry? Well, free concerts would be a start. The annual River to River Festival kicks off tonight in NYC with Animal Collective and Danielson at the South Street Seaport stage. The real treat, however, will be tomorrow when the legendary rock icon Roky Erickson returns to NYC. Seriously people, his performances in April at the Bowery Ballroom and Southpaw were his first NYC performances EVER. Do yourself a favor and go.

Get there early though because tickets will be given away (two per person) on a first-come, first-serve basis, starting at 5pm. More information can be found here.

Roky seemed more alive when he was playing his songs, and proved he was still capable of tearing it up on guitar.
