Dear Tonight, The New Dress, Scream Hello, Attica Attica | Lost & Found, Brooklyn, NY | 6/14/2008

The last Dear Tonight show has come and gone, and a phenomenal hardcore band is no more. Dear Tonight, formed in 2001, broke up this past Saturday after an incredible show at Brooklyn’s Lost & Found bar, surrounded by friends, fans, and great bands. Sets by Attica Attica, In First Person, LNWF favorites The New Dress, and Scream Hello led up to shit totally blowing up when DT took the floor in their usual cacophony of hardcore deliciousness.  I’m sad that DT decided to break up but it was a privilege to have known this band, been around when they were, and to have been there that night.

Album Spotlight: Scream Hello - “Smart & Stupid” EP (Red Leader Records)

I’ve always heard of Scream Hello, but never really sat down to listen to them. Man, I was missing out. A great mix of melodic pop punk with smart lyrics, I’ve been spinning this little teaser for their upcoming full-length, Everything Is Always Still Happening constantly. If you don’t find yourself tapping your feet or even dancing to “Vinegar & Baking Soda,” you’re a goddamn Communist sympathizer who deserves life in jail.

Saturday was the longest ABC No Rio matinee that I’ve ever been to. Definitely an odd lineup of bands but two made the five hour plus marathon well worth it. Those bands you ask? LNWF favorites Polar Bear Club and soon to be one our favorites (if not already) Scream Hello. Do yourself a favor and check out Polar Bear Club’s Sometimes Things Just Disappear and Scream Hello’s Smart and Stupid, both from our friends at Red Leader Records.  Check out some more pictures after the jump.
