Spoon Get R-R-R-R-Re-Remixed

It’s the holiday season and that means even your favorite indie artists want to help out when it comes to giving to those in need (and no, an Xbox 360 does not count). Spoon teamed up with everyone’s favorite beat maker, Diplo, and had him go to town on the track “Don’t You Evah,” off their latest Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. The track is available from the Merge Records store, right here, and all proceeds fund the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition. We hear at LNWF haven’t heard the track, but if Diplo is behind the board, expect some funky, funky stuff.

The charity does not end there however, as Spoon also signed one of their show posters put it up on eBay, all in the name of charity. Check out the Merge listing here for that and more auctions and get your credit cards out and ready.

Despite some downright nasty weather during the day, Spoon continued their forty-eight-hour NYC takeover/album release party with a free show in Lower Manhattan. The band relied heavily on their latest Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (Merge) with songs like “Don’t Make Me A Target,” “The Underdog” but did mix in some older favorites, such as “I Turn My Camera On” and “My Mathematical Mind” off ’05’s Gimme Fiction (Merge). Mother nature was threatening to return, so sadly the set was a tad short, but still some Spoon is better than no Spoon at all. Or, a spoonful of Spoon is…er…forget it.
