Show Round Up: July 19th:

Things have been kinda slow with all of us here at LNWF. Probably because we are wasting away in an AC-fueled haven, eating tubs of Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream, curled up in a ball, and cursing the sun. Well, while we hide like a bunch of dweeby vampires, there’s still plenty of stuff to do this week for all of you “others.”

First off, our friend Ronen Kauffman is doing a reading and signing for his book New Brunswick, NJ, Goodbye at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ tonight. Special guests are planned so get all the info here. Be on the look out for an interview I did with Ronen in the next few days.

On Friday, root-channelling revivalists Lewis and Clarke will celebrate the release of their new album Blasts of Holy Birth (La Société Expéditionnaire) at Brooklyn’s Soundfix. The band, made up also of members of Man Man and Rachels, will captivate all those Williamsburg hipsters like nobodies business. Go check them out!

Watch The Human Giant Marathon Performances

After all that bullshitting over pimpin’ our rides and giving already spoiled brats their own sweet sixteen birthday party, MTV’s hilarious new show Human Giant lets us all know that there is still an ounce of life left in the network (just an ounce, though).

However, the show isn’t slaying in the ratings department. So, MTV gave the boys free reign for twenty four hours at the studio this past weekend and put them up to the challenge of getting a million hits on their website.

The boys not only reached well over a million hits (1,212,651 hits to be exact), guaranteeing a second season, they invited some of their favorite comedians and bands along for the ride.

MTV has now posted all the musical performances from the marathon, including Mastodon (fresh off their performance with Against Me! the night before at Roseland), Ted Leo, and The National, among many others.

“>Check the videos out here.

Human Giant is on every Thursday at 10:30pm on MTV. Your life would be so much better if you watched it. LET’S GO!

Put Words In Ted Leo’s Mouth, Score Merch

On the heels of his brand spankin’ new album Living With The Living (Touch And Go), Ted Leo has announced a new contest. How do you enter you ask? First off, go here. The top ten entries to submit the best caption will win a Ted Leo and the Pharmacists scarf, an autographed copy of the new album, Mr. Leo’s very own prescription pads and some more sweet swag. The grand prize includes two tickets to the show in your city and some Peta2 merch.

You can send you entries to contest@tgrec.com. Captions should be put in the body of the e-mail (no attachments!) with a description, in your own clever words, of what is taking place in the picture, in fifty words or less.

The contest ends on April 5 and then the selections will be submitted to the man himself for judgment. Ted Leo beckons. Do his bidding fools.

You can buy the new album at Generation Records with the very limited edition EP. Order online and get 10% off your purchase! Check it out here.
