Video: The Get Up Kids - “Long Goodnight” | 11/16/08

The Get Up Kids played their first show together in over three years last weekend at Kansas City’s Record Bar. From all accounts, it was a spirited affair and the band looked stoked to be playing together again. I’m definitely hoping for an NYC show in 2009. For now, you can check out a video of the band playing “Long Goodnight,” off the band’s best record, Something To Write Home About, below.

The Get Up Kids Get Back Together?

 

 

AbsolutePunk.net has posted a tip that The Get Up Kids will be officially getting back together and touring next spring.  Apparently, James Dewees announced the news at a Reggie and the Full Effect show in Chicago, IL, stating that TGUK would be back in about six months.

The question is will they be recording a new album much like the recently reunited Rival Schools?

7-Inch Corner: The Get Up Kids

So I’ve decided to go the solo record route with this week’s 7-inch corner. This week, we focus on late-90s emo favorites The Get Up Kids. I am an unabashed fan of the band and will defend every record in their catalog, at the risk of being called the evil “e” word. But seriously, the boys did put out some quality records during their stretch. For now, we’ll focus on two of their earliest songs.
