Be Your Own Pet, The King Left | Maxwells, Hoboken, NJ | 2/21/08
Be Your Own Pet ripped through a ferocious set last night at Maxwell’s showcasing a lot of the new tracks from their forthcoming Get Awkward (Ecstatic Peace). New tracks included “Zombie Graveyard Party!” apparently about “fucking zombies,” “Becky,” the self proclaimed “slow jam of the year” and “Food Fight” which was about yelling “Food Fight!” really loud. The front of the crowd was dancing so much, that someone’s lipstick fell on stage which prompted vocalist Jemina to pick it up and put on her “War Paint” as seen above. She also dropped a nice anecdote hoping that said lipstick didn’t just give her herpes. Beautiful. The show ended with the crowd taking over the stage and stomping all over it.
