RIP: Steve Foley

Former Replacements drummer Steve Foley died last weekend in Minneapolis. Foley, who was 49, overdosed on prescription medicine. Foley played drums for the ‘Mats during their last tour.

Paul Westerberg Releases 49 Minute Album For 49 Cents

Paul Westerberg of The Replacements released his new project 49:00 today via download only.  The project running 49 minutes long, costing a cent a minute, making it sound similar to a long distance telephone plan. Oddly enough Amazon.com the only retailer carrying the song has the length listed as 43:55.  That’s like being ripped off 5 45/100’s of a cent!  A great deal regardless. Will update you after we download the track.

Rock Band 2 To Feature The Replacements, Bosstones, Bikini Kill, Talking Heads

The artist track listing for the forthcoming Rock Band 2 video game has been announced. I must say, it’s a pretty impressive list of songs, including The Replacements’ “Alex Chilton,” The Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ “Where’d You Go,’ Metallica’s “Battery,” Bikini Kill’s “Rebel List,” among many others. Yay Or Nay?: The Possible Replacements Reunion

On the eve of Rhino’s reissues of their first four albums, there is more buzzing regarding a possible Replacements reunion. The buzz is all stemming from a recent interview with Billboard.com. I must say, my nerdy soul is torn over all these rumors. After all, this is one of those bands for me. I worship the band, through and through. So the question remains, would I go see a Replacements reunion show?

Jim Walsh’s Replacements Book In Stores, Harp Magazine

The coolest band ever (next to The Clash, of course) The Replacements are chronicled in Jim Walsh’s new tell-all All Over But The Shouting, which was released by Voyageur Press last week. I, personally, can not wait to read it.
