New Mexican Disaster Squad Breakup

Posted on September 11th, 2008 by Costa

Seriously, what’s with all these good bands breaking up lately? Florida’s New Mexican Disaster Squad have called it quits. They released this statement on Myspace:

After almost ten years of NMDS there seems to be no more dead horse left to kick. We will be playing a pre-Fest show in Tampa on October 29th, and The FEST itself looks like it will be our final show as NMDS. Thanx to everyone that have been rad over the years. You know who you are.
On a couple of positive notes, there are no hard feelings between any of us, and we have our new bands GATORFACE and VIRGINS both releasing shit this year. There is also a new project in the works with a certain sadistic magician that hopefully some of you will be stoked about. More to come on that front later.

The band last released the Peace With Nothing EP in 2007 on Jade Tree Records.

Internal Affairs Say Goodbye

On the heels of the news of The Ergs calling it quits, Cali hardcore band Internal Affairs have announced they are also breaking up. According to the band, they just felt “it’s time to move on.” They will be canceling their European tour, and announcing two final shows (East and West Coast) in the near future.

This is also right after the band released a new album, making news because of it’s artwork collab with Dalek and Triumvir, as mentioned on Kanye West’s blog.

The Ergs! Call It Quits

Posted on September 8th, 2008 by Costa

The Ergs!, everyone’s favorite Descendents-loving pop-punk trio from New Jersey, are calling it quits.  They’ve released this statement;

“ok. well, it looks like you guys knew us better than we knew us. the ergs are calling it a day. jeff is leaving the band and it wouldn’t be the ergs without him. we’ll be recording the last couple songs that we’ve been working on and releasing them on a 7″ this fall. we have a bunch of really great shows coming up with some really great bands that we never thought we’d get to play with. our last show will be in new jersey in mid november. more info on that as it becomes finalized. thanks to everyone who listened to us, came to see us, or helped us out in any way. we’ve made a ton of great friends and played some of the best shows a band could ever want to play.”

We here at Late Night Wallflower are super fucking bummed.  We’ve all had the pleasure of seeing the boys in The Ergs! play live several times.  They’ll be missed and we’re all looking forward to their future projects.

Check out their Myspace page for their last upcoming tour dates, including an appearance at The Fest.

Be Your Own Pet Break Up!

Posted on August 1st, 2008 by late night wallflower

Be Your Own Pet bring their song “Bummer Time” to life by breaking up after they finish their next few UK tour dates.

The band posted this announcement on their website.
“To all of our fans,We are sad to bring you the news that our upcoming shows in the UK (dates below) are going to be our last as a band. We thank you for all your love and support these past few years – its been a blast but the time has come for the 4 of us to go our separate ways.”

We can assume that their current side projects will continue on and new “ex-member” bands will sprout up soon. Perhaps they are trying to get out of the clutches of Universal?
