News Blurbs: Jake Bannon, Ghostland Observatory, Lair Of The Minotaur

Posted on January 23rd, 2008 by Jason

Jake Bannon has basically reached prolific status at this point. Whether wearing down his vocal chords with Converge or taking things easy with his newest side project under the name J. Bannon, which sounds like his past project Supermachiner, but more ambient, the man has been innovating within the scene for well over a decade at this point. Listen to an excerpt of the song “The Blood” from the upcoming The Blood of Thine Enemies and prepare to feel like you’re in the creepiest horror movie ever.

Lair of the Minotaur have come out with a track from their soon to be released album, War Metal Battle Master, out on Southern Lord on March 25th. Get your face rocked off by the track “Hordes of Undead Vengeance” right here.

Weirdo electronic rockers Ghostland Observatory have put up a new song from their upcoming album Robotique Majestique, out February 26th. Check out “Heavy Heart” right below.

Ghostland Observatory, Spank Rock, Flosstradamus & Kid Sister, The Cool Kids, Yacht | McCarren Pool, Brooklyn, NY | 8/19/07

Sadly, this was the last Jelly NYC pool party of the year, but you can relive the magic of such artists like Man Man, Superchunk, Ted Leo, Dan Deacon and oh so many more by clicking here. This weeks show featured Ghostland Observatory blowing minds with their Rapture-esque dance music, while the Rub DJ’s held down the ones and two while spinning for the Cool Kids, Spank Rock, and Kid Sister. Yacht flailed around to his eccentric pop beats and then decided he had enough of the giant stage and made his way into the crowd. It may have been rainy, but the eclectic lineup sums up what these free shows are all about; awesome music in a crazy space with everyone collectively losing their minds. See you next summer.
