I absolutely love Harlem‘s new record Hippies, out now on Matador. More specifically, their song “Gay Human Bones” has been stuck in my head lately. Check out the video below.

Jaguar Love, containing members of recently defunct Northwest bands, The Blood Brothers and Pretty Girls Make Graves, have posted a track from their debut full length Take Me To The Sea. The track, “Bats over the Pacific Ocean,” was posted in the beginning of April, but I just found it buried on my desktop yesterday and gave it a spin. This song is fucking fantastic! It’s super catchy and Johnny Whitney’s unique vocals sound great. Even if you were not a fan of his work in The Blood Brothers, I recommend you check this song out.
The full length will be released on August 19th via Matador. Make sure to check them out this year’s Siren Festival on Coney Island, July 19th.

The upcoming New Pornographers album, entitled “Challengers,” will be released worldwide (with the exception of Canada) on Matador Records. The album will feature cover art from band member Neko Case. The artwork above is not the final design, but will be available for purchase on a screenprint poster at their concerts. Those of you who are lucky enough to be attending Coachella will have the first opportunity to pick up the snazzy poster, which will have an individualized code that guarantees you a copy of “Challengers” on its release date.
The NPs are still in the process of mixing the album, but have some upcoming shows to hold you over until its release. Neko Case has solo tour dates, so I’m unsure as to whether she’ll be performing with the band. I suggest taking any chance you have to see them live. Their energetic powerpop rock will have you dancing the entire time.
