Murder By Death have announced plans to release a split 7″ series comprised of 7 records. Each split will consist of the band trading cover songs with their musical friends and peers, and you can expect a new one to be released every three months.

The first record (out October 20th) will be with William Elliott Whitmore. Other artists confirmed so far are the Dresden Dolls and O’Death.

Judging by the names of the two bands that opened played the Bowery Ballroom in NYC on Friday night, one would imagine a death metal show of epic proportions. Alas, you would be far off the mark to think that, but the country/folk-infused styling of both Murder by Death and Brooklyn based O’Death sure know how to please a drunken crowd.

After wrapping up their tour with Clutch, Bloomington, Indiana’s Murder By Death will embark on a headlining tour of the US in support of their new record Red of Tooth and Claw (Vagrant). Murder By Death have posted the track “Fuego” off their forthcoming release Red of Tooth and Claw on their MySpace page.  The band has also posted a pre-sale for the gatefold record, which will be on blue vinyl.  If that’s not enough the band will also be releasing a three song digital EP on February 12th which will feature alternate versions of songs that will be on the full length due March 4th via Vagrant Records.  Make sure to check out their amazing live show when they open for Clutch starting in February.

Mark your calanders! Murder By Death will release their fourth album, and Vagrant debut, Red of Tooth and Claw, on March 4th, 2008. The Bloomington, IN quartet recorded the album earlier this year with producer Trina Shoemaker (QOTSA, Emmylou Harris, Iggy Pop) at Dark Horse Studios in Tennessee. The band has a few shows left this year (including dates with Clutch!), expect them to perform a few new cuts and to melt your face off.
