Posted on July 8th, 2008 by Costa

Billboard is reporting that DC post-punk titans Shudder To Think are reuniting for a tour this fall. They had previously played two, unannounced reunion shows this past February in NYC.

The band released several records in late 80s/90s and were one of only two bands to jump from Dischord Records to a major label (the other being Jawbox).

Check out the confirmed dates after the jump.

New Mexico’s greatest unknown pop-punk rock ‘n roll band, Scared Of Chaka, are reuniting for the first time in 10 years to play for the 15th anniversary party for Sticker Guy! Custom Vinyl Stickers in Virginia City, NV, sometime in March. Here’s the official statement;

Sticker Guy Pete here, I’m organizing this to celebrate 15 sticky years!
HERE IS THE OFFICIAL SKINNY AS OF TODAY:

There are no tickets yet, but there will be. Capacity of the venue is 250. We will announce the venue soon. The lineup shown above is who is CONFIRMED — there are several more bands & discjocks in the works! If you would like to attend, my recommendation at this point is to arrange your travel. Be in the Reno area by early Friday evening, March 28th, and stay til Sunday the 30th. I recommend *not* reserving accomodation yet — Friday will not be *in* Reno — but only 45 minutes away. We’re working on Saturday — it will probably be in Reno (or Sparks). So most likely, you’ll be spending one night in one town, another in Reno or Sparks. At any rate, I would like for everyone to stay in the best places possible, so hold off and wait for my recommendations as to where! Okay?

Again: if you already know you want to attend, mark your calendars, get the time off of work, and arrange your travel now! Sit tight for accomodation and ticket info. Check www.stickerguy.com for details & updates, they will be posted soon!

thanks and I hope to see you in March.

Brooklyn’s Friendly Fire Reuniting For One Night Only

Posted on January 29th, 2008 by Costa

One of my favorite (and grossly under-appreciated) local hardcore acts, Friendly Fire, will be back for one night only on February 15th in the Bronx at the First Lutheran Church (home of the DIY collective The Bronx Underground).

From 2002 to 2004, Friendly Fire brought straight-up hardcore fun, even releasing Initiative on Blackout! Records. Since then the members have gone on to various other projects, including NY-based metal bands Only Hell Remains and Everything’s Ruined, and NJ’s My Turn To Win.

Click below for the flier, Friendly Fire’s video for the song “The One Who Pulls The Trigger”, and check out the Bronx Underground site for directions.

Is It The Jam Or “The Jam?”

Posted on January 18th, 2008 by Jason

Purest may contend that it’s not officially “The Jam,” but the Paul Weller-less crew is prepared to bring the show on the road and recapture their glory from the old days. Under the name “From The Jam,” the group will be playing all the classic songs and have already done a tour in the UK. The tour will feature founding members Bruce Foxton and RickBuckler, who will be joined by fellow musicians Dave Moore and Russell Hastings. It’s the closest thing to a Jam reunion you may ever get, so you might as well take what you can get. Dates after the jump.
