Ah, what a classic lineup; The Bouncing Souls and Lifetime. It’s like a Jersey version of PB & J. Both bands, along with None More Black, played a very, very, freaking hot Webster Hall on August 20th. The Souls are touring in celebration of their 20 years of being a band.

I’ve seen them a billion times and I’ve never felt let down by a Souls show. And that didn’t change that night, as they blazed through a set jam-packed with favorites and some of the new songs from their 7-inch series. They mixed some surprises in there too, with an acoustic version of The Misfits’ “Hybrid Moments” being a highlight. As for the newer songs, I gotta tell you, I really think “Ghosts on the Boardwalk” is one of the best songs they’ve ever written. It gives me goosebumps.

More and photos after the jump.

The Bouncing Souls played an intimate and inspiring acoustic set at Generation Records on Saturday, April 18th, which was Record Store Day. Being a fan of the band for 10 plus years now, having the guys down in the basement at the store was a huge deal for me. The guys were super friendly and stoked to be playing at the store. I loved every minute of it.  I really hope a lot of you made it out. It was a special day.

Video: The Bouncing Souls – “Night On Earth” Live At Generation Records

Posted on April 19th, 2009 by Matthew

The Bouncing Souls celebrated Record Store Day 2009 at Generation Records NYC with a 90 minute acoustic set. Greg, Pete, and Bryan were in good spirits, playing a wide range of new songs and classic Souls anthems along the way to a jam-packed basement. I found this video on Youtube tonight and I think it gives a pretty accurate portrayal of the performance. Enjoy.

Generation Records is proud to announce that New Jersey’s favorite punk band, The Bouncing Souls will be playing a special, acoustic in-store on April 18th, in celebration of Record Store Day.

All you need to do to get in is buy a copy of the Souls’ 20th Anniversary Volume 1 7-inch from the store on the day of the show. Generation will have the solid maroon pressing (only 1000 made!) for sale. The 7-inch will be $5. The store will NOT be selling the 7-inch before the 18th, only the day of the show.

The show will start at 2 P.M. Space will be extremely limited so spots will only be available on a first come, first serve basis. Anyone that’s been to the in-stores in the past knows it gets pretty packed in that basement, so I’d recommend getting there early.

For further updates, keep checking Generation Records’ Myspace. This is going to be awesome!

T-minus one month and counting until Record Store Day 2009 is upon us. Don’t forget, The Bouncing Souls will be playing at Generation Records that day, which I get more and more excited about with each passing day. There have been a ton of updates on Twitter about RSD, so check it out and be in the know.
