Tales From The Fest: Horse Bites Design

Posted on 14 October 2008 by Matthew

For the last two years, Horsebites (aka Richard Minino) has created the official logo for The Fest. Along with running his own design company, Minino has provided album covers for bands like Dead To Me, Strike Anywhere, and New Mexican Disaster Squad. Below, he gives us the dirt on how he hooked up with Tony Weinbender and The Fest crew. Enjoy.

I was lucky enough to do the art for the Fest 6 last year and it was a really great learning experience on how to brand a music festival. I thought I did a pretty decent job last year and I wanted to top it for this year’s Fest. Tony Weinbender told me since it was Fest 7 and it started on Halloween that he wanted the art to have something dealing with gambling (i.e. lucky #7) [along with] a Halloween feeling.

Margot & The Nuclear So And So’s Stick It To The Man (Kinda).

Posted on 03 October 2008 by Aaron

On October 7th, Epic will release not one, but two new Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s records. The first, entitled Animal, is the version of the album that the band stands behind and wanted released. The kicker is that the second record, Not Animal!, is a collection of songs from the album recording sessions that the label prefers over the band’s choice of tunes. Animal will be released on double vinyl, while Not Animal! will come out on CD. Both versions will be available digitally.

First the economy crashes, then a major label agrees to an artistic compromise of sorts with one of their artists. Hot damn!

You can stream both new Margot albums for a limited time right HERE.
